I've unistalled Casper on my ThinkPad T450s with 1 TB SSD running W10 v.1909, installed MR, created and tested restore media on a USB key and carried out a couple of backups - a clone to a 1TB SSD in a USB enclosure and a System Image to 1 TB HDD in another USB enclosure. This may still fail if the problem is caused by a kernel driver though.OK, after a couple of decades of using FSS Developments Casper to backup and restore my computers, I took the plunge and bought a single licence for Macrium Reflect Home v in the Halloween sale. Try a Windows clean boot using only MS services. This is possibly caused by Anti-Virus and unfortunately you can't always believe that you have turned it off despite what the option says.
The shadow copy is being denied accesses. This on-line article suggests running the drive manufacturer's drive checker, but you could try running chkdsk /r as a first step while awaiting "A Higher Authority" suggestion. Sounds like there might be some bad sectors on the source drive. I guess I'll have to wait for 'A Higher Authority' to give me an answer. Result - Read Failed 13 & Permission Denied 32. Well I turned off Malwabytes and made sure the Properties/Security in both drives were set to full access. Otherwise Macrium may be along shortly to suggest something else, because I agree a permissions error on a clone operation seems strange. If you have Malwarebytes running persistently in the background as opposed to just having it as an on-demand tool, maybe try turning that off. Yeah I haven't heard of this either, but quickly Googling turned up an old forum post for V5 where anti-virus was mentioned. Malwarebytes Anti-malware, and Windows Defender for antivirus. This is a first for me, never had this trouble before. Well the error message "Permission Denied - 32" would point to something about permissions what the numbers mean I have no Idea. NTFS permissions wouldn't apply in a disk clone operation, so all you need is local admin privileges on the system, but I assume you have those or you wouldn't have been able to launch Reflect.
Not sure what you mean about admin privileges on both drives.
